CO2 Dosing Systems

Photosynthesis is a carbon dioxide (CO2) and light-dependent process by which plants produce biomass.  It is important for growers to understand that photosynthesis is stimulated by higher concentrations of CO2 and by higher combinations of light intensity.  Carbon deficiency becomes a problem in tight and closed greenhouse environments during daytime hours when photosynthesis occurs.  The only solution is CO2 supplementation, whose level of application is crop-specific.

CO2 extraction units include:

   CO2 extraction

Pure liquid and dry ice systems

   Flue gas CO2 extraction systems

Flue gas from natural gas-fired burners is very suitable for CO2 dosing. However, flue gases must contain as few contaminants (such as ethylene, nitrogen oxides, & carbon monoxide) as possible. Not only can CO2 dosing increase your potential yield, but it can also reduce your heating costs. Heat storage systems provide a reservoir for the hot water produced by the boiler when CO2 is being generated. When CO2 dosing is not needed, the stored heat can be used as a free source of heat.
