Message from the Department Head

One of the challenges of any business is to make sure their products and services continue to meet the needs of the marketplace. Failing to do so results in the loss of relevance in the marketplace. The same holds true for academic departments. The BRAE department is fortunate to have a committed and engaged industry advisory council to give guidance and council on how we are meeting the needs of the marketplace in preparing graduates for employment.

As noted in the accompanying e-newsletter article, the BRAE Industry Advisory Council recently met with the department faculty to discuss our status. I am happy to report that on the whole we are doing a great job at preparing graduates that enter the workforce ready to contribute in a meaningful way to their employers. We continue to have excess demand for our graduates which means that we need to continue to look for ways to increase the number of students in our programs. As in any organization we have areas where we can do better. We are committed to the principle of continuous improvement as we take our advisory council's feedback and make needed changes. I invite you to let us know how we are doing so that we may continue to be a first-class educational organization.
