What she does now:
Civil engineering consultant, water resources design

Ms. Miller works for an engineering consultant firm dealing with flood studies, flood barrier design, stormwater pump station design, river restoration design, dam spillway design, hydrology and hydraulic analyses for bridges, drainage design for roadway improvements, raw and treated water pipeline designs, sewer lift station design, water main replacement design and development of a master plan for ditch system abandonment. In addition to studies and design, the firm also provides construction management and inspection services. Clients consist mainly of water districts, irrigation districts, flood control districts and city and county agencies. One of Ms. Miller's current projects was the Bear Creek Raw Water Pipeline replacement, which involved replacing an existing concrete pipeline that is the main water supplier for several communities in Calaveras County.

Why she recommends Cal Poly's BRAE department:
"The tools I gained while studying in the Cal Poly BRAE Department have made the difference in my career. The classes and teacher involvement in the BRAE Department make the learning experience more enjoyable and worthwhile. Having access to facilities such as the water delivery facility and the irrigation practices field provide hands-on learning tools that are not available at other schools or in other departments. I would greatly encourage any student interested in civil or agricultural engineering to consider the BioResource and Agricultural Engineering Department."
