Message from the Department Head
Participating in commencement earlier this month is one of the rewards of being a faculty member at Cal Poly. As I shook each graduating ASM & BRAE student's hand, memories of their time at Cal Poly flooded my mind. Whether our paths crossed while giving academic or career advice, in the classroom, or supervising a senior project, my life was enriched by the interaction. These graduates represent all that is good in the world today. I hope you will have the opportunity to have one of them cross your path in the near future.
As this segment of the school year draws to a close we begin to look forward to a new group of students arriving this fall. With hopes, enthusiasm and a bit of apprehension they arrive ready to begin a new journey here at Cal Poly. I hope you take t
he opportunity to interact with these students this coming year through participating in department and university events.
One event I want to invite you to participate in is the BRAE Reunion on October 17 & 18. It will be a great opportunity to reconnect with old acquaintances and make new friends. I hope to see you there.
I want to thank everyone that has made this past year a success. Faculty, staff, parents, friends, supporters, and students individually and as a whole have contributed in making this year rewarding for our students.
I also want to give a special thanks to our e-newsletter creator and editor, Nikki Heyer. She has nursed this project along from a fledgling idea into a quality e-newsletter this past year. Nikki graduated this June with a degree in Business (Accounting and Finance) and will be leaving us soon to join the “real” world. Thank you Nikki for sharing your talents with us.
